The Tapawera Connect Trust has started a mothers group to strengthen connectedness and build social resilience in the community. The trust was set up using $20,000 from the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI s) Rural Community Hubs programme fund, to investigate initiatives to support the community. MPI s director of Rural Communities and Farming Support, Nick Story, said the programme aimed to empower isolated communities to tackle challenges they faced.

Hui Planned For Marae-based Project Teaching Kaipara Residents To Grow Kai

Wednesday, 20 January 2021, 3:09 pm The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is funding a new marae-based project to help Kaipara residents grow their own food. The first of four educational hui will be held this month to teach people how to transform their backyards into food bowls. MPI is providing $20,000 to Māuri Orā ki Ngāti Whatua Charitable Trust to develop the community education programme.
