Small food businesses are today (Tuesday, May 25th) being encouraged to apply for funding under the LEADER Food Initiative – a €5 million investment aimed at assisting businesses to deal with the challenges posed by Brexit and COVID-19.
The final call for applications was made by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue and Minister of State for Land Use and Biodiversity, Pippa Hackett.

The return of the Supervalu Tidy Towns Competition will be a huge boost to communities across Kilkenny, Fine Gael TD John Paul Phelan has said.
Tidy Town groups in Kilkenny have now been awarded grants of up to €1,000 under the Tidy Towns Fund announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys.

TidyTowns 2021 is open to applications
The SuperValu TidyTowns competition is open to applications until Friday 2nd July.
The 2021 SuperValu TidyTowns competition will take place in the same format as previous years, albeit with a specific emphasis on electronic entry and remote adjudication of each town’s entry. Entry forms to the competition will be emailed to all registered groups. If your TidyTowns group is not registered you can obtain an entry form by visiting www.tidytowns.ie or by emailing tidytowns@drcd.gov.ie New for 2021

Tidy Towns committees throughout Clare will be busy over the coming months improving their locality following the return of the national annual competition.
The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has announced the return of the SuperValu TidyTowns Competition.
The iconic competition was cancelled in 2020 – for the first time in over 60 years – due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, special arrangements have now been put in place to ensure the return of the competition this year, with the overall winners due to be announced before the end of the year.
