The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the Modified Implementation Strategy of BharatNet project for providing broadband connectivity to all gram panchayats by March 2019.
This is a significant step toward governments ambitious project Digital India. It has a vision to establish a scalable network network for providing broadband connectivity to all gram panchayats in the country by using a mix of underground fibre,aerial fibre,radio and satellite media.

Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) provides low-cost funds to States to help complete incomplete rural infra projects
The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has disbursed ₹16,500 crore under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) during the current financial year so far (up to January 31, 2021).
Cumulative disbursements under the fund, which was started in 1995 to create social assets in rural India, stood at ₹3,10,849 crore as on January 31, 2021, NABARD said in a statement.
Under RIDF, low-cost funds are provided to States to facilitate completion of incomplete rural infrastructure projects.

The World Bank will provide Bangladesh with USD 500 million for developing rural connectivity, market, and logistic infrastructure in light of the economic prospect created with the construction of the Padma Bridge.
Bangladesh Government s Economic Relations Division (ERD) Secretary Fatima Yasmin and World Bank s Country Director at Dhaka office Mercy Miyang Tembon signed the agreement to this end today at the ERD office in the capital, according to a press release issued by the ERD.
The World Bank Group s International Development Association (IDA) will release the fund from its IDA-18 Scale-Up Facility (SUF) to implement Western Economic Corridor and Regional Enhancement Programe (WeCARE) Phase-I: Rural Connectivity, Market and Logistic Infrastructure Improvement Project (RCMLIIP) .

Satellite operator Eutelsat Communications has signed a framework agreement with its distribution partner InterSat to provide connectivity services to the Post Office in Côte d’Ivoire.
The multi-year agreement will enable the connection of about 170 post offices throughout the country. All the post offices will be equipped with konnect Wifi hotspots in white zones (where coverage is poor), enabling the Post Office to offer broadband solutions to its local customers.
