The Connected Society Innovation Fund for Rural Connectivity, which is funded by UK aid from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), was set up to expand digital inclusion in rural areas through innovative new technology solutions. We are delighted that the partnerships between MTN Uganda and iSat Africa, and Vodafone Ghana and NuRAN Wireless, have now brought life-enhancing mobile coverage to up to 50,000 people in several deep rural communities through this project. The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Charlie McConalogue T.D. and the Minister of State Senator Pippa Hackett today announced âProject Woodlandâ, an initiative to tackle issues in forestry in Ireland and drive forward the planting of trees. The Ministers accepted a report on reforming the Irish Forestry Licensing system, and committed to its immediate implementation.
Welcoming the announcement, Minister Charlie McConalogue stated,

The first doses will take around three weeks to administer.
Mary White, who is 92 and from Waterford, was among the first people aged over 85 to get her Covid-19 vaccine this morning. It s lovely to have it done now, she said, after getting her first dose of the vaccine.
Mary was one of up to 300 patients getting the vaccine at the Keogh Practice in Waterford city today.
Her daughter Paula White accompanied her to the centre. It s great to see the start of it now. You just feel a bit safer. It s great to get it done today and we ll be back again in four weeks time, she said.
