LAKE GASTON, The annual Lake Gaston Associationâs Membership Meeting is on Saturday, June 12, at 9:30 a.m. and will conclude at 11 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Lake Gaston Baptist Church, located on N.C. 903 across from Subway Restaurant. The changes take effect July 1, and officials hope they streamline the way they support their schools.
âI believe that the reassignments are going to [position] us now that weâre going to be back [teaching] face-to-face,â said board Chairman David Richardson. âAs we embark on our mantra of a new day, [that] new leadership and those reassignments are just kind of making sure everyoneâs on the right seat on the bus.
First, the board named Stan Winborne, now the assistant superintendent for operations and human resources, to the position of associate superintendent of curriculum, instruction and student services.
Winborne has served nearly 25 years with the district, and as head of curriculum and instruction will replace Michael Myrick, whoâs leaving to become superintendent of the Weldon City Schools.

PESTICIDE RECERTIFICATION, N.C. Cooperative Extension in Warren, Vance and Granville Counties will be hosting two multi-category pesticide recertifications on June 10 at 10 a.m. and June 14 at 6 p.m. virtually via Zoom.
