Granite Hills opens the Grossmont-Hills League with a win over cross-town rival Valhalla beating the Norseman 56-7.
The Eagles were flying high on offense scoring touchdowns on all six of their offensive possessions in the first half. Quarterback Justus Mccomb accounted for five touchdowns in the first half (4 passing, 1 rushing).
Helix transfer Joaquin Thomas had a pair of touchdowns (1 receiving, 1 rushing) in the first half including a 64-yard touchdown run.

EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) A little over three years ago, Granite Hills High School was devastated by the deaths of two beloved students, just three weeks a part. But the school turned the tragedy into a tradition of love and kindness.
William Burton and Trevor Barnes weren t just student athletes at Granite Hills, they were unique personalities that fellow students loved and gravitated towards. William did a lot as we found out, he did a lot of acts of kindness that were hidden. He didn t need to show it off at all. As for Trevor, he was very funny and goofy and I just loved him, says 2018 graduate Haylee Arsenault.

David Crowley presents his State of the County address for Milwaukee County.
MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley on Wednesday, Feb. 24 delivered his 2021 State of the County address.
Crowley made a point to address racial and ethnic equity in his 2021 remarks, highlighting celebrations of Black History Month as it comes to a close but also Milwaukee County s Native communities. We all have a stake in Milwaukee County’s future, Crowley said. When we lift-up our most vulnerable neighbors and prioritize communities who have been historically marginalized, we all benefit.
SPRING VALLEY
Jesse Robles was appointed Dec. 8 to fill a vacant seat on the board of the San Miguel Consolidated Fire District, the county’s largest fire district.
Robles was one of two people who applied to represent Area 6, the part of East County that covers La Presa and Spring Valley. There were no candidates who filed to run for the seat on the November ballot so the district put out the word to the community that it was soliciting interested persons for that position. Robles and Tyra Fleming were the only respondents. Robles’ seat runs until Dec. 6, 2024.
The 2020 election was the first “by district” election, with four of the seven governing areas set to appear on the ballot. Three of the areas had candidates who ran unchallenged, including incumbents Jeffrey Lyle Nelson in area 1 (Crest/Granite Hills) and Kim Raddatz in area 2 (Rancho San Diego). Newcomer David A.
