Seat on San Miguel Fire District Board filled by appointment

SPRING VALLEY    Jesse Robles was appointed Dec. 8 to fill a vacant seat on the board of the San Miguel Consolidated Fire District, the county’s largest fire district. Robles was one of two people who applied to represent Area 6, the part of East County that covers La Presa and Spring Valley. There were no candidates who filed to run for the seat on the November ballot so the district put out the word to the community that it was soliciting interested persons for that position. Robles and Tyra Fleming were the only respondents. Robles’ seat runs until Dec. 6, 2024. The 2020 election was the first “by district” election, with four of the seven governing areas set to appear on the ballot. Three of the areas had candidates who ran unchallenged, including incumbents Jeffrey Lyle Nelson in area 1 (Crest/Granite Hills) and Kim Raddatz in area 2 (Rancho San Diego). Newcomer David A. Pomeranz, a senior at San Diego State University, ran uncontested for the seat in area 4 (Casa
