Table Talk: Heart State Brewing Co. puts down roots in Gahanna
Patrick Sullivan had an inkling about a market for his style of beer.
Yet when he opened Heart State Brewing Co. in late 2020 and did his first real rollout in January, even he was taken aback when the orders started pouring in.
“It is actually quite surprising,” Sullivan said. “They can’t get enough of it, I guess. And they’re always looking for something new.”
With COVID-19 and infections waning and the state opening up, it’s little surprise people want to venture out to indulge in craft beer again, he said.

“It is actually quite surprising,” Sullivan said. “They can’t get enough of it, I guess. And they’re always looking for something new.”

Heart State takes over 15,000 square feet of space in the Crossroads Commerce Center in Gahanna. A taproom is in the offing, said Sullivan, who also produces small batches of wine and makes Fun Water, an alcoholic seltzer.

An incline shuttle bus will provide service to and from Mt. Washington from April 28 to 30, while the state Department of Labor and Industry conducts its seven-year inspection, PAT said. The popular railway connects Grandview Avenue with East Carson Street at Station Square on the South Side.
Sustainable Grandview: Volunteers clean up litter from Scioto Bike Trail

A group of 28 volunteers picked up enough litter to fill 50 trash bags April 10 during a little pickup event hosted by the nonprofit Sustainable Grandview.
The volunteers met at the Scioto Bike Trail entrance on Grandview Avenue, near Interstate 670 and just south of the Sunoco gas station. The trail entrance is right by the exit ramp from 670, and a lot of people just toss trash out their window as they drive by, said Brian Will, one of the local residents who serves as an organizer for Sustainable Grandview.
People might be surprised at how much trash collects along the bike trail, Sustainable Grandview organizer Andy Leber said.
