Crack The Sky – Reissued Onto Vinyl

Crack The Sky is undoubtedly the best progressive rock band that you've most likely never heard of, unless you we're living in Baltimore in the 70's. The band was formed in the early 1970's in West Virginia. It would be several years before they would release their debut self-titled album, Crack The Sky in 1975. Rolling Stone declared this album the 'debut album of the year' and the publication later went on to compare Crack The Sky to the talents of Steely Dan. This review set the bar high for the band. 

Ellwood Band Bash returns; Blackhawk s Samuel Mancini releases pop LP

R&B/pop singer Samuel Mancini made his live radio debut Thursday, performing three songs on Beaver County s WBVP/WMBA-FM (99.3). The Patterson Township native s Feed The Fire mixtape debuted Feb. 26, reaching No. 58 on the Billboard sales chart, and the Top-20 of the iTunes Pop Chart. Mancini mixes blissful melodies with a dazzling vocal range, particularly on Reckless, a song about moving on from an unfulfilling relationship.   Electropop flourishes abound on Who s Gonna Be There, which has logged 3 million Spotify streams. The Blackhawk grad, and son of Beaver County Judge Richard Mancini, told WBVP-WMBA listeners he s Influenced by early 1990s vocal acts like Boyz II Men and George Michael.

Great players…Hall of Famers…not so great players…and absolute stiffs.But for me, and those of my generation the #44 will always be associated first with Henry Aaron. Aaron died this week and another piece of my childhood died with him. One of my first vivid memories is of being in the backyard of my house on Turner St and trying to hit whiffle balls over the roof…like Aaron and Matthews and Carty and the other Brave greats that I could hear on the transistor radio. Described by Earl Gillespie, Blaine Walsh and later Merle Harmon. I must have been only six or seven when the bug hit and Aaron was a big reason why.
