The Graham Chamber of Commerce announced this week that 6th grade Graham Junior High School students in the Hot Shopolicious program raised a total of $1,765 through the program which will go to area nonprofits.
In the past, the Hot Chocolicious event welcomed GJHS students from 6th through 8th grade and served as entrepreneurship training for the students involved with the basics of how to start and manage a business. The program was changed to the Hot Shopolicious event this year and the student teams purchased products from a local retailer and sold them in an online storefront.
“Each team set up an online store and they sourced products from local merchants to sell online and all proceeds still benefited local nonprofit organizations,” Graham Chamber of Commerce CEO Krisa De La Cruz said. “So, the students did a full marketing campaign.
