Sale school marches 2,470 miles Ââ inspired by Captain Sir Tom Moore ANDREW Grainger, the head of PE at Manor Academy, the Sale special needs school for children aged 11-19, is proud of his pupils and staff. In a money-raising exercise for Place2be-Children’s Mental Health, the 190 pupils and 65 staff exceeded the 600 miles they were asked to walk and, instead, completed 2470 miles! Before that, Mr Grainger had, himself, completed a 100 mile challenge despite having a bad leg, along with two other staff members. It made him think the school could do something similar. “Some of the pupils were afraid to leave their houses due to autism or prolonged lock down. It was lovely to see them going out to walk for two hours a day.
