Governor Mills promotes Maine Jobs & Recovery Planâs investment to expand child care capacity, a key complement to the Administrationâs work to make child care more widely available for working Maine families
During a visit to Penobscot Bay YMCA in Rockport today, Governor Janet Mills highlighted the importance of the Maine Jobs & Recovery Planâs investment in accessible, affordable, and high-quality child care and early childhood education opportunities in Maine.
A DEDICATED community stalwart is to retire after serving her community for 29 years. Mistley postmaster Frances McMillan has been running the village’s Post Office, in High Street, since September 1991. In her absence, it will now temporarily close tomorrow. Following 20 years of commuting to London for her former job as a consultant, Mrs McMillian was ready for a new challenge and a change in environment at the turn of the nineties. After looking at many branches in the Essex area, she chose Mistley Post Office inside a 17th century coaching inn. Nearly three decades later, Mrs McMillan said she has many fond memories running the branch, especially the friendships she has forged with the community.
Ubiquity and exclusivity may seem like rival entities, but when it comes to fashion, they are the tether ends of a rope binding an industry together. It’s a dichotomy, perhaps endemic to the very notion of desirability, as luxury labels strive to be both unavailable and everywhere at the same time. Advertising campaigns are plastered across public transport, high-street billboards and magazine spread, but for many, the brands themselves remain way out of reach. Fashion is, in many ways, all about striking this balance. Cut the line too slack and a label quickly loses its allure by way of ambivalence, or worse, saturation.
Covid and lockdowns have caused havoc across the UK, with many unable to do activities and see people they normally would. This week, we asked our talented camera club members to post a picture of something they really miss about not being in lockdown – and their posts were touching. From seeing family members to going for walks with friends, calling into the local pub, going out for drives and discovering new destinations, exploring the countryside and taking part in activities such as running and football, these are just some of the things our members miss.
