A survey released this week by MANA de San Diego highlights the barriers Latinas face at the workplace, including discrimination and sexual harassment, as well as additional challenges for those who also have caregiving responsibilities.
The findings of the Regional Report on the Status of Latinas in the Workplace were described by the local organization as revealing and concerning. MANA is a nonprofit that supports Latinas through education, leadership, service and advocacy.
San Diego County is home to more than half a million Latinas, who represent 17 percent of the population.
The survey, conducted with the nonprofit Kim Center for Social Balance, evaluated the responses of 62 participants working in educational services and nonprofit careers.
