Seong-gyoo, the head of the bank center, took the children to his car on his normal way to work. He receives a call from a restricted phon number. There s a mysterious voice over the phone letting him know there is a bomb in the car. He was warned that if he doesn t get out of his seat, a bomb will explode.
Seong-gyoo, who declared the mysterious phone call as voice phishing, soon witnessed his colleague s car exploding in the same way in front of his eyes, and became a suspect of terrorism in downtown Busan and was chased by police.

Busan-set chase thriller “Hard Hit” this weekend became the first local film to head the South Korean box office in more than a month. It earned $2.27 million in its opening weekend.
The arrival of a significant, commercial film from Korea may be a sign of growing confidence that the return to business of the seriously dented exhibition and distribution sectors is now gaining momentum.

For much of this year audiences in Korea have stayed away from cinemas leaving admissions and box office at a small fraction of pre-pandemic levels. That in turn has caused the delay or abandonment of the releases of many local titles. For the past month the only major film releases in Korea have been Hollywood franchise movies enjoying global rollouts now that North American theatrical business has been restarted.

The action thriller Hard Hit has been topping the local box office for four-consecutive days after grabbing the No. 1 spot on the day of its premiere, Wednesday.
The film sold about 105,000 tickets Saturday, adding about 1.04 billion won ($919,200) to its gross earnings so far of 2.37 billion won ($2.1 million). On its opening day, the film scored this year s record high among all local films released so far, with around 55,700 tickets sold, grossing 493.5 million won ($437,300).
Seong-gyoo (played by Jo Woo-jin) is a bank manager waking up to another normal day. Despite initially seeming to be a mere cipher, Jo Woo-jin, quickly proves to be brilliant leading man. We can see through moments of alternating terror and desperate poker face mentality that in another movie, Jo Woo-jin would just be a background character.
