One of the last in-person farm meetings to take place in 2020 was the Nebraska State Dairy Association Convention last February in Columbus. Here we are more than a year later, and the 135th NSDA Convention is planned once again for March 18 at the Ramada Inn in Columbus.
NSDA is one of the oldest continually operating farm organizations in Nebraska, dating back to the first organization president, S.C. Bassett, who took the helm in 1885.

Whitney Maddox was waiting for an Uber in east Knoxville, Tennessee, one early Friday morning in January when he spotted a black sedan idling outside a Planned Parenthood clinic.
Assuming the car was for him, Maddox hurried over and peered inside. Then he bolted away. What he saw in the vehicle, he later told police, was a white man with a white bandana over his face. The man was holding a shotgun and pointing it at the clinic doors.

LANDLORDS of Barnard Castle’s Old Well Inn are cooking up free pasta lunches for children doing home learning.
Rima and Roy Chatterjee started their scheme last week as a way of showing appreciation for the town that has supported them for the past five years. And the offer is open to everyone, regardless of their means. Mr Chatterjee said: “This is a treat for the kids and to give their mums or carers a 20-minute respite from having to cook. It is challenging for them to juggle home schooling, house work and having to cook.”

Wednesday is Grant County Day at the New Mexico Legislature, and despite pandemic rules that bar all but essential staff, credentialed media, and, of course, legislators themselves from the Roundhouse, local government officials and representatives from a range of organizations here will still be pitching the priority needs of the region to legislators virtually.
