EP police sued EAST PALESTINE An East Palestine woman charged with obstructing official justice and resisting arrest is suing two East Palestine officers, the chief and the police department for an incident in February 2020. Betsy L. Theodore, 452 Alice St., East Palestine, is suing officers Matthew Elser and William Milliken III, as well as Chief James Brown III and the East Palestine Police Department for assault, false arrest and malicious prosecution. Theodore was charged with obstruction of justice and resisting arrest Feb. 9, 2020 after allegedly lying to officers about the identity of Travis Mosti, 38, who had a warrant out of Jefferson County. Both charges are second-degree misdemeanors and Theodore pleaded innocent at her arraignment Feb. 10, 2020. A jury trial is scheduled for Feb. 18, 2021 on the charges.

Macy’s recently had announced it would be closing its mall location, and placards denoting 25%, 40%, 50%, sometimes 60% off dotted the store and the clearance sale wasn t scheduled to start until the next day.  Families, couples, solo shoppers and the customary groups of high schoolers meandered around the mall in search of deals or, as some said, in an attempt to prevent boredom.  Many stores in the mall have adopted limited hours since the COVID-19 pandemic began, if not closed entirely, leaving the future of the mall in question.

Inverclyde-made Christmas cracker film stars Still Game favourites

A CHRISTMAS cracker of a festive Inverclyde film starring Still Game favourites is set to be beamed throughout the district this week. Star-studded production The Magical Beacon Stone features Jane McCarry, Mark Cox and Sanjeev Kohli from the hit TV comedy and Provost Martin Brennan makes an appearance too. The 40-minute film has been produced by the Beacon Arts Centre in partnership with the council, in the wake of the disappointment of not having a festive panto this year. The Magical Beacon Stone is aiming to make up for that when it s premiered in every school across the district on Wednesday and Thursday before being made available for everyone to watch free via the Beacon website after 10am on Friday.
