Twenty land borders that have been closed for more than a month due to the Covid-19 pandemic will reopen on Monday.

The borders set to reopen include Beitbridge, Maseru Bridge and Lebombo.
The 30 land borders that are currently closed for travel, will remain closed and traveling to and from South Africa is allowed subject to regulations. Daily commuters from neighbouring countries who attend or teach at schools in South Africa, and who are allowed entry into and exit from the country are subject to compliance with health protocols relating to screening for Covid-19,” says the department’s spokesperson Lungi Mtshali.

British Airways, operated by Comair in South Africa, will start flying to East London in March.
Opening fares are capped at R595 for one-way flights to and from Johannesburg, where it is competing with low-cost sibling Kulula.
On the lesser-travelled Cape Town-East London route, British Airways is beating FlySafair’s prices – and check-in luggage restrictions.

British Airways is expanding its presence in South Africa while its popular direct route to the United Kingdom remains suspended due to coronavirus-related travel restrictions. From 17 March 2021, British Airways will introduce 20 weekly flights to East London from Johannesburg and Cape Town, at reduced rates.

A prominent businessman at the centre of allegations of the “capture” of Umgeni Water’s board has been shot dead in what appears to have been a targeted assassination.
On 26 January, Sibonelo Hertzog Shinga, 51, the sole director of IT consultancy Raminet Technologies and MPS Strategic Solutions, was killed while travelling from a family funeral in Durban to the King Shaka International Airport.
