2021 NAIDOC Week events bigger and better

During NAIDOC Week 2021 (4-11 July), Queensland communities will come alive with lights, storytelling, community events and more to celebrate the world’s two oldest living cultures.
NAIDOC Week is an opportunity to acknowledge the lived experiences, centuries of resilience and ongoing contributions of Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Minister for Seniors and Disability Services and Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships Craig Crawford said all around the country, NAIDOC Week celebrations are being held.

New South Wales has recorded 31 new local cases of COVID-19, 13 of which were infectious while out in the community.
Twenty-seven of the new cases uncovered in the 24 hours to 8pm Thursday are linked to previous infections, and 17 are household contacts.
Four of the new cases remain under investigation.
Only 11 of the 31 new cases were in isolation during their infectious period.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said she was relieved the case numbers were not higher, but stressed the next few days would be critical .
“This pretty much reflects the days just before, and the day when we went into lockdown,” she said.

Subscriber only Queensland students have joined hundreds in Brisbane City s King George Square to strike in the name of climate action on Friday afternoon. The country-wide School Strike for Climate will call on the Morrison Government to invest in renewable energy rather than gas projects. From 1pm students would gather in King George Square before marching through the city streets.
