Liberal leadership hopeful touring region
Kevin Falcon, candidate for the leadership of the BC Liberal Party, will be in Cranbrook, the Columbia Valley and Fernie this week, June 28 to 30.
Falcon’s first stop is this evening (June 28) at Columbo Lodge in Cranbrook.
Relax in the shade with Kevin Falcon from 7 – 8:30 pm. Drive through the Columbo Lodge parking lot to the back right corner of the lot, then either drive down the laneway to bocci pits or walk down.
“Meet the leader who has the experience, drive and leadership skills to rebuild an inclusive party that is competitive in the next election. Kevin was Minister of Transportation when we fixed Steamboat Hill and made billion dollar improvements to Kicking Horse Pass. He knows how to get stuff done and he knows how to win,” said Bill Bennett, former long-time Kootenay East MLA and Liberal government cabinet minister.

May 14, 2021 - 12:00 PM Motorists driving to and from Alberta on the Trans-Canada Highway will be able to use the Golden to Field portion currently closed for construction and avoid the 1.5 hour delay, at least for the next two weekends. The construction project is upgrading 4.8 kilometres of highway through the most challenging sections of the Kicking Horse Canyon at a cost of $601 million, cost shared with the federal government. It is the fourth and final phase of Highway 1 reconstruction through the canyon. A full closure will resume Monday, May 17 at 7:30 a.m. until noon on Friday, May 21. There will be no closures during the May long weekend between May 22 and 24, with a full closure back in effect on May 25 at noon.
