To Cuomo: Please Add Kingston to State Covid Vaccination Sites

Ulster County s Executive Pat Ryan is formally asking Governor Cuomo to add a Kingston location to the New York State run Covid-19 vaccination locations. Currently the nearest State run vaccination locations are in Albany and in Westchester County. Executive Ryan is suggesting that the current Ulster County vaccination site at the Kate Walton Field House at Kingston High School be added to the State run sites. Ryan has stated that there is the potential to vaccinate 50,000 people per month at the site, if the vaccines were made available to them, which would allow almost every resident of Ulster County to get a vaccination if they chose. Another reason that Ryan has sited about why Kingston should become a site? He has heard from many residents that they are having to leave the county and travel, sometimes hours, to get to their appointments.

County Leaders Try To Calm Residents As They Await More COVID-19 Vaccine

6:33 County leaders say their offices continue to be deluged by calls about the COVID-19 vaccine, which is in short supply. Saying they, too, are frustrated, they’re asking residents to be patient.    Democratic Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan says he continues to be frustrated by the slow vaccine rollout. Last week, New York state received 300,000 vaccine doses for a pool of some 7 million eligible New Yorkers. This week, Ryan notes, the state received 250,000. “What does that mean in Ulster County? Well, it means two things. Number one, it means, more than anything, we need more vaccines. We need more vaccines,” Ryan says. “We need them now, and the only entity capable of upping this is the federal government, and so I want to be very clear that the responsibility lies there.”

Providers, politicians scramble to secure limited COVID-19 vaccines

KINGSTON – Health care providers, local leaders and pharmacists are scrambling to acquire scarce coronavirus vaccines, as the public bombards them with requests and state leaders keep expanding eligibility. Some local governments across New York, particularly counties, have set up local vaccination sites for the general public, and vaccines are trickling into a handful of local providers such as hospitals. But as of Wednesday, Orange County’s government had just 200 doses and Sullivan County’s government had none, while Ulster County officials said they were on pace to expend their 1,200 doses some time on Friday. And they did not know when they might receive a new shipment of vaccines.

County Leaders Await More COVID-19 Vaccine To Satisfy Demand

5:37 With the administering of the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible people under way, counties in New York have been running out of doses quickly. The process has been bumpy, and some county leaders hope it will be ironed out soon as they field numerous calls and remind residents that the program is run by the state. Democratic Westchester County Executive George Latimer delivered a vaccine update Monday. “Westchester County government received, last week, last Tuesday, 500 doses to be administered, and those 500 doses were given to the county. They were administered through our White Plains Department of Health clinic on Court Street, not far from where I’m standing in the county office building,” says Latimer. “And through Friday, we were able to properly deliver all of those 500 units to those who are eligible in the 1A category.”

COVID-19 Vaccine Will Be Available in Kingston

COVID-19 Vaccine Will Be Available in Kingston If you are in Ulster County and hoping to get a COVD-19 vaccine you will have access starting January 11th. Ulster County Government shared on their Facebook page today (January 7, 2021) information about getting the COVID-19 vaccine, who will be eligible and how to sign up. There has been a lot of information over the last few weeks about the COVID-19 vaccine. Just about everyone knows it has arrived to New York and most of us are not on the list to receive the first round of the vaccine. However, that is no reason not to keep up on opportunities to receive the vaccine. More and more people will have access to the vaccine as weeks go by, so keeping up-to-date on where and when the vaccine is available is important so that you have access as soon as possible.
