KINGSTON, N.Y. â A retired Kingston High School vice principal and teacher has been accused by a second man in a civil lawsuit of sexual abuse in the early 1980s when he was a teenager.
The new complaint was filed as an amendment to a lawsuit, originally filed in May, accusing William Dederick of sexually abusing another 14-year-old student in and around Kingston High School.
Dederick, now 78, is a Kingston resident who served with the district for more than 33 years â first as a biology teacher and later as an administrator â before he retired in 1999.

Dederick and the school district itself are named as defendants in the suit, which was filed in state Supreme Court in Ulster County.
KINGSTON, N.Y. â City Re-envision Public Safety Task Force members have recommended that city police not be used as contracted school resource officers unless written assurance is provided that there is no role in how students are disciplined.
The recommendation was discussed during a video conference meeting Wednesday, with task force member Amy Shapiro saying there is the belief that police are too involved with students.
âOur black and brown students are disciplined in the Kingston schools disproportionately,â she said.

âWhile black students represent only 15 percent of the population in the Kingston city schools, they represent 32 percent of in-school suspensions, 36 percent of out-of-school suspensions, and 56 percent of expulsions,â Shapiro said. âA major criticism of SROs is they often become involved in routine student discipline.âÂ
