Picture: ATU RASEA To commemorate International Day of Education, Vodafone Fiji Ltd presented gifts and also hosted afternoon tea for students of Gospel School for the Deaf. Vodafone Fiji sponsorship manager Adriu Vakarau said the gift handover to the children was long overdue from Christmas and it was only fitting that students received their gifts on International Day of Education. “Vodafone was waiting for a time to give the students their gifts and today just coincided with International Day of Education and we are pleased to have the opportunity to commemorate the international day of education with students of Gospel School of the Deaf.”

Vodafone Fiji Sponsorship Manager, Adriu Vakarau says they were supposed to give these gifts last year but it was cancelled due to Cyclone Yasa. The gift packs include stationery kits and books. Gospel School for the Deaf Principal, Nirmala Mudaliar says the students were excited to receive their gifts as they were looking forward to the Christmas tree lighting last year, but were disappointed when it was cancelled due to TC Yasa.

Picture: JONA KONATACI Children with special needs from various institutions in the country were hosted to a Christmas party by the Sai Prema Foundation Fiji at the Vodafone Arena in Suva on Saturday. Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Fiji director Dr Krupali Rathod Tappoo said the event was part of their ongoing “Children of God” project. “We have been looking after the needs of the needy children for the past years and we’ve had children of most of these institutions come for medical check-ups at our medical centre,” she said.
