Janet Collinge TRIBUTES have been paid to a dedicated family woman who has died weeks after being hit by a car. Loving wife, mother and grandmother Janet Collinge was involved in an accident on December 11 close to the roundabout between Casterton Avenue, Eastern Avenue and Briercliffe Road in Burnley. Mrs Collinge was taken to Royal Preston Hospital to be treated for her injuries, before being released several weeks later. The 72-year-old, sadly died at home in Burnley on Wednesday. The driver of the Lexus, a man in his 50s, was not injured. He has been spoken to by police and is assisting with police enquiries.
At around 3.30am on Tuesday, police in Burnley spotted a suspect vehicle being driven in the town. Following a short pursuit the Honda Accord crashed into lampposts and other street furniture as well as several parked vehicles on Colne Road at the junction with Casterton Avenue. The driver, a man in his 20s, has been taken to Royal Preston Hospital with head and spinal injuries.
Credit: Shane Stow Shaf Latif, who lives on Colne Road and operates Pendle Taxis in Nelson, said he heard a loud bang, which woke him up. He said: I was in bed and heard something but didn t think much of it at first as I live on a main road and it s always busy.
