Family claims Bangladeshi man injured in BSF firing near Thakurgaon border Star Online Report Star Online Report
A Bangladeshi man was injured, allegedly from shots fired by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Ratnai border in Thakurgaon s Baliadangi upazila today.
The man was identified as Tariqul Islam (40) of Dogachi Madhupur village under the upazila, reports our Thakurgaon correspondent.
BSF members of Sonamoti camp shot him while he was working at his watermelon field, about 50 yards from the border, this morning leaving him injured, his family members said.
He was later admitted to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital for treatment.
Resident Medical Officer Dr Rakibul Alam said Tariqul Islam was admitted around 10:30am with injuries on head and other parts of his body.

GUWAHATI/ AGARTALA, Jan 16: With the arrest of 10 more Myanmar Rohingyas, a total of 45 Myanmarese, including women and children, have been detained in the past two months for illegally entering northeast India, officials said on Thursday.
Northeast Frontier Railways s (NFR) Chief Public Relations Officer Subhanan Chanda said that 10 Rohingyas, including five children and two women, were detained in the New Delhi-bound Rajdhani Special train on Wednesday. They were immediately de-boarded from the train at New Jalpaiguri station in West Bengal by the railway security personnel.

Agartala, Jan 7 : To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War victory, the BSF as part of its year-long programme would organise a 70-day long cycle rally covering 3,266 km frontiers of five Indian states from January 10, an official said on Thursday.
Tripura frontier Inspector General (IG) Susanta Kumar Nath said that the 70-day long cycle rally would start from West Bengal on January 10 and would culminate on March 17 in Mizoram covering the 3,266 km distance, mostly along the frontiers of West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya and Mizoram.
