COVID-19 “vaccinations are working,” health Officer Rebecca Burns told her board Thursday, even with breakthrough cases and some of the lowest vaccination rates in Michigan in Branch, Hillsdale and St. Joseph counties.
The agency continues to offer daily vaccinations and is attending public events to offer the vaccines in coordination with the MI Shot state program.
With all school districts expected to be back at full classroom participation for the fall, Burns said the board’s public health policy committee will meet in early August to established policy recommendations for the opening of schools.
Schools have told her masks are not being required and that’s not just for the fully vaccinated.
