One hundred and fifty Southland veterinarians are members of the association. VetSouth director Mark Bryan said his company needed another two veterinarians. It has eight clinics in Southland and 67 veterinarians. NS Vets director Morgan Greene said the business had a full complement of 12 veterinarians. “We’re in the fortunate position of being fully staffed, but we are aware of shortages [elsewhere in the country].” NS Vets operates four clinics in Northern Southland. Otautau Vets Ltd is also fully staffed with veterinarians at present. Its practice manager Sandy MacGillivary said the companied employed 10 veterinarians. “We have had [vet] shortages in the past,” she said.
