A man who tried to bite police officers has been jailed for six months.
Councillor Naheen Mather has said there is no excuse for fly-tipping as three men were prosecuted Kirklees Magistrates Court THREE fly-tippers have been investigated and recently prosecuted by Kirklees Council, despite COVID-19 causing some delays and disruption to services and court hearings. Cases first reported to the council as far back as 2019 have been investigated and are now appearing in the courts. Twelve cases originally scheduled for hearings in 2020 had to be rescheduled for 2021. The council has already had three cases in the Kirklees Magistrates Court in January 2021 for fly-tipping related offences. Dewsbury man Tahir Zaman, 49, of Heckmondwike Road, owns land on Caulms Wood Road used by fly-tippers which generated community complaints to the council going back to June 2019.

Rossendale Borough Council and Bright Futures Early Learning have signed the final lease agreements enabling building to begin at Futures Park in Bacup. The new centre, due to open in September 2021, will provide nursery and childcare babies and youngsters aged up to four. It is expected to create up to 30 jobs. Bright Futures, a not-for-profit social enterprise, already runs a nursery based in Calder Road, Rawtenstall, which opened in 2012 and was rated outstanding by Ofsted in 2013 and 2020.
