Offensive: A knuckleduster A YOUNG Whitehaven man caught carrying a knuckle-duster has been warned he is likely to be jailed for six months if he does the same thing again. At Carlisle Crown Court, 23-year-old Alexander Bowman was sentenced to a community order after he pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon in a public place. The court heard that police were called out to High Road in Whitehaven on June 21 last year and while officers were in the area they found Bowman in a garden. When he was searched, officers found the knuckle-duster in his jacket pocket. In a later conversation with a probation officer Bowman, of Calder Avenue, Whitehaven, said that on the day when he was arrested he had forgotten the weapon was in his pocket – a claim which the judge in the case said he rejected.

1. County courthouse and city/county municipal complex
If you ve driven down Daniel Morgan Avenue lately, you ve probably seen the big crane and progress on the Spartanburg County courthouse project. The parking deck and nearby central energy plant will be completed by June 30, 2021, Britt said.
After the courthouse is complete, a new joint city/county municipal building will be built as part of the same project funded by a penny sales tax.
Britt said the courthouse and new municipal complex will be a good adrenaline spurt for downtown merchants. It ll make it so much more walkable for our associates at the county and in the city. And it will be a big complex.
