OneAmerica report outlines disparities in WA tech industry Aaron Kunkler   July 27, 2021   A new report released by OneAmerica outlines inequalities impacting women, people of color,  contract, and gig employees in Washington state’s tech industry, and recommends ways to address them.  Washington state is home to thousands of tech companies, but the big four are Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Facebook. Two big broadband bills became effective yesterday Aaron Kunkler   July 26, 2021   A pair of bills seeking to expand broadband access in Washington state went into effect on July 25.  The bills, HB 1336 and SB 5383, will allow not-for-profit, community-owned public utility districts (PUD), ports, and counties to provide retail broadband service directly to customers. Herrera Beutler Secures Funding to Expand Health Care Access, Youth Substance Use Prevention in Southwest Washington Office of Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler   July 16, 2021   Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler (WA-03) announced [on Thursday] that she secured key federal funding in a committee-approved spending plan to support health related initiatives in Southwest Washington.
