It was a defensive battle with both teams struggling to get good shots and unable to consistently hit them when they found a few open looks. The Warriors made one three point shot all game and it was a big one from Majok Majouk that put them ahead 28-25. It came right after the Tigers got a bucket from Kaleb Booth to tie the game at 25. The Warriors would lead 30-27 after a spinning shot in the lane by Tory Feldman but Majouk who was a 50% free throw shooter entering the game hit 4-6 down the stretch and Jake Layman hit a pair. Majouk made a steal in the closing seconds and scored the final of his 15 points, which all came in the 2
rd quarter ignited the Carroll Tigers and they pull away in the 4
th quarter to reach their first Sub-State Final since 2016. The Tigers outscored the Tornadoes 25-11 in the 4
th to win going away. Storm Lake was able to control the tempo most of the game but Carroll never trailed and was only tied 6 times. The last was at 28-8 after Storm Lake went on a 6-0 run to tie the game. Carroll largest lead to that point had been 3 as Storm Lake kept hanging around, using their size inside to score. Carroll didn’t get to the free throw line much but hit 8 of 9 which allowed them to maintain the lead around 3 points most of the game. Storm Lake finished 4-11 from the free throw line and had a couple opportunities to take the lead from the line but didn’t convert.
