PSB almost botched Pakistan’s participation in Tokyo Olympics July 15, 2021 KARACHI: The country’s entire contingent’s participation in the Olympics was at stake due to Pakistan Sports Board’s (PSB) non-compliance to the Olympics Activity Plan. An investigation by ‘The News’ has revealed how PSB had almost botched Pakistan’s participation in the Tokyo Olympics. Mari Iwama of the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games emailed the activity plan to the National Olympic Committee of Pakistan on May 26. “As we have explained on several occasions, we are pleased to announce the details of the Activity Plan. Please find the attached Activity Plan which will be required for those who are entering Japan from 1 July 2021.

Charity hospital praised for free-eye treatment services

July 3, 2021 PESHAWAR: A senior administrative official on Friday praised the Khyber Eye Foundation Hospital Peshawar, a charitable health facility for free-of-cost treatment to the poor. Deputy Commissioner Khalid Mehmood inspected different sections, including operation theater, wards, clinic and other departments of the hospital located in Gulbahar Colony No 4. Chairman of the hospital Faiz Muhammad Faizi, Khalid Sultan Khwaja, Ghayyar Sethi, Shaukat Bashir, Obaid Siddique, Malik Muhammad Ali, Luqman Shah, Taimoor Shah, administrative officers, representatives from relevant stakeholders and philanthropists were present. The deputy commissioner was briefed about different facilities, use of modern technology, gadgets and equipment in surgery and other functions, especially the provision of free-of-cost treatment to patients.

By Bureau report PESHAWAR: More than 70 percent Ulema and students of the seminaries have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the district, a meeting was told here on Friday. A meeting of the district administration was held with Deputy Commissioner Khalid Mehmood in the chair. A group of Ulema led by Mufti Zafar Zaman also attended the meeting. The meeting discussed the corona situation in the district and the seminaries’ response to protect the students from the disease. The administration was told that the vaccination drive in the seminaries was ongoing and that more than 70 percent teachers and students had been vaccinated.
