KMC hospitals to stay open during Eid holidays
All medical superintendents told to ensure medics and paramedics are on duty
KARACHI:
Administrator Karachi Laeeq Ahmed on Friday directed the medical superintendents (MS) of all hospitals under the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to ensure the presence of doctors and paramedical staff in the hospitals during the extended holidays of Eidul Fitr starting from May 9 till May 16. Citizens are facing health problems due to the Covid-19 pandemic and there is a lot of patient pressure on hospitals, the administrator passed these remarks while presiding over a meeting in which the responsibilities of various departments and deployment of officers and staff during the Eidul Fitr holidays were reviewed.

KMC signs MoU with welfare organisations for improvement of graveyards

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has formed a central committee and subcommittees to improve the condition of cemeteries, end monopoly of graveyard mafia and facilitate the process of burials. The cooperation and collaboration of civil society, and social and welfare organisations has also been [ensured] so that the complaints of the citizens regarding the cemeteries can be resolved, KMC Administrator Laeeq Ahmed said during the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Sailani Welfare Trust and Jaffaria Disaster Management Cell (JDC) Welfare Foundation for the management of new cemeteries.

Education Minister Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly has shut down an appeal from booksellers to be allowed to operate during the latest COVID-19 lockdown.
Responding to calls from the booksellers that students will suffer without access to stationary and past papers, Gadsby-Dolly said if the COVID spike is not reduced significantly, students will suffer even more.
