Inactive schools to be made functional, IT, irrigation departments to be set up: Khalid Khurshid

Daily Times June 11, 2021 Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid has said that the Department of Information Technology and Irrigation will create IG and Irrigation Departments for the improvement of the system. He said that special attention would be given to agriculture and livestock while revision of development projects would be discouraged. He directed the concerned authorities to complete the targeted projects of public interest within the stipulated time. Talking on the occasion, he said that the government would pay special attention to the development of backward areas and the welfare of the people. The Annual Development Program (ADP) will be developed to improve the living standards of the people and keep in view the basic needs. Town planning of all districts, villages and revenue councils of Gilgit-Baltistan will be done keeping in view the vision and instructions of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan.

Pakistan to set up tissue culture lab in GB to double production of new potato variety--China Economic Net

  ISLAMABAD, June 4 (Gwadar Pro) - Special Assistant to Pakistan’s Prime Minister on Agriculture Jamshed Iqbal Cheema will inaugurate a tissue culture lab in Jaglot area of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) on June 9 to double production of a new variety of potato.   Spokesperson for Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) Shabbir Mirza told Gwadar Pro on Thursday that the PARC Chairman Dr Azeem and GB Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid will also take part in the ceremony.   “The new potato variety is a blend of Chinese, Dutch and indigenous varieties developed through tissue culture technology,” said Dr Ghulam Muhammad Ali, Member of Plant Sciences of the PARC Board.
