There are 28 new cases of coronavirus. Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong in the announcement said 23 of the new cases are linked to the existing clusters. Dr Fong said of this, two are from Nawaka in the Nadi cluster, one from the Colonial War Memorial, four from FICAC, and 16 from the Navy. He said three of the cases are close contacts of a case under investigation from Caubati announced yesterday. “One is under investigation with no known links to other cases at this stage. The other is from Navosai in Narere was tested after presenting himself to the Valelevu Health Centre,” he said.

The newly opened Nakasi Health Centre will be outfitted with 17 beds recently given by the People’s Republic of China.
The centre is Fiji’s sixth hospital-based isolation facility, the third in the Central Division, in addition to the Navua Hospital and Colonial War Memorial Hospital.
Chinese ambassador to Fiji, Qian Bo said the People’s Republic of China stood in solidarity with Fiji in its efforts to contain COVID-19.
“China and Fiji are comprehensive strategic partners,” he said.
He said China would continue to provide anti-pandemic supplies and was willing to share best anti-pandemic practices as well as send special medical teams, if necessary.
