FIJI ON ALERT OVER FISH POISONING RISE Submitted by admin on Thu, 12/03/1998 - 00:00 SUVA, Fiji Islands (November 30, 1998 - PACNEWS) -Health authorities in Fiji are on the alert after an unusually high number of fish poisoning cases were reported by Suva s Colonial War Memorial (CWM) Hospital during the past several weeks. Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Mary Schramm said the hospital has seen a very high number of cases in a very short period of time. Some of the cases, she added, are extremely serious. Dr. Schramm has warned the public to be careful about where frozen and fresh fish are bought, until the exact source of the poisoning outbreak is determined.
