Birthday celebrations for Ray Crown at the Spread Eagle in Hereford in 1989. Picture: Lizzie Robinson THE pubs of Hereford are often a hot topic of conversation as people reminise about growing up in Hereford, such as the bars no longer there or ones where memories were made. This picture was shared by Lizzie Robinson in our We Grew Up In Hereford Facebook group, which now has more than 9,000 members. It shows Ray Crown’s birthday celebrations at the Spread Eagle in King Street back in 1989. She said it turned into a lock-in and all-nighter, and it was daylight when she walked home.
The Lady Bombers ended up falling to the Lady Panthers 45-37. Greenbrier jumped out early hitting seven three-pointers in the first half and went into the locker room leading Mountain Home 34-12. The tide turned in the third quarter, as the Lady Panthers were held to two points. The Lady Bombers were able to limit second chance opportunities, as they outrebounded Greenbrier 31-15 in the game. Mountain Home cut the margin to five in the final period, as the Lady Panthers were again held to one field goal, but Greenbrier was able to pull away by going 7 of 8 from the free throw line en route to an eight-point win.
