Fans are joyful that 135,000 people can once again attend the Indianapolis 500. But much of the traditional entertainment around the race hasn t returned to its pre-pandemic form.
Some events are postponed or made invite-only, some are canceled altogether and others have been recalibrated to meet race fans where they live. Here s a look at what s going on with the Indy 500 Festival Parade, Carb Day and Snake Pit concerts, Off the Grid and Rev.
500 Festival Parade
The reverse parade is exactly what it sounds like. Instead of the traditional gathering downtown for the AES 500 Festival Parade, all 33 starting drivers will cruise through Indianapolis neighborhoods May 29.
The 105th running of the Indianapolis 500 is one of celebrated returns and a few lingering omissions.
Still absent this year are classic rock bands hitting the stage at Carb Day and the Snake Pit sending EDM bass drops throughout Indianapolis Motor Speedway come Sunday.

The Indianapolis 500 parking lots
The 10 different lots available for camping are Lot 1A, Lot 1C, Lot 2, Lot 3G, Lot 3P, Lot 4, Lot 4A Premium, Lot 5, Lot 6 and Lot 9.

SPEEDWAY, Ind. The Indy 500 is just around the corner as Speedway gears up to welcome race fans back to Main Street.
“Main Street is probably the coolest place in Indianapolis, especially during the month of May,” said Robert Mills.
Last year, downtown Speedway took a hit after fans couldn’t attend and the race was pushed back to August.
“Downtown was pretty dead last year, so it is good to see people back out on the streets, walking around and enjoying the community again,” Mills said.
