BRANDON, FL A Hillsborough County Sheriff s Office deputy was killed in the line of duty Monday night after a suspect crashed into his cruiser at a high rate of speed, deputies said.
Monday afternoon, authorities went to Paddock Club Apartments, 921 Paddock Club Drive, for a complaint about suspect, Travis Garrett, 28, who had been throwing clothes from the apartment where he stayed, according to officials. Deputies spoke to the suspect through the door and then left since there was no cause for arrest, investigators said.

Hillsboro County Sheriff s Office (HSCO) Master Corporal Brian LaVigne, 54, was in a marked vehicle when a suspect who had been tased unsuccessfully by deputies intentionally rammed the car, according to a press release from HCSO.
We will honor him as the hero and for the service he left behind as a teacher, as a mentor and again, someone who unselfishly served this community, Chronister said.

TAMPA, Fla. - A Hillsborough County deputy, a 31-year veteran on the force, was one shift away from retiring when he was killed in the line of duty Monday.
A man was fleeing deputies when he crashed a vehicle into 54-year-old Corporal Brian LaVigne’s driver’s side, Sheriff Chad Chronister said. On top of investigating what exactly occurred with the crash investigation, Chronister said, we have to deal with the funeral and planning the proper funeral after his corporal was murdered, intentionally killed by Travis Garrett one shift away from retirement.
