A Newquay based company has created a piece of software which enables searches to be recognised as agriculture-specific. SimSage s downloadable plugin website search function uses artificial intelligence to understand agriculture’s natural language. Co-founder Sean Wilson explained: “Type AI into any popular search engine and ‘Artificial Intelligence’ will dominate the search results - even when combined with ‘agriculture’ – but standard search functions aren’t configured to the broad range of agricultural language.

Software company SimSage has revolutionised the way website search tools can be used by agri-businesses and organisations to better connect farmers with the information they need. It has developed a downloadable plugin website search function, which uses artificial intelligence to understand agriculture’s natural language.
A farmer typing ‘artificial insemination’ into the Google search bar will provide a colourful list of results, but unlikely will it be the shade they were looking for. “In industry, natural language is the use and interpretation of words and phrases that are specific to that sector,” says co-founder Sean Wilson.

A pioneering drone delivery flight has paved the way for a new lifeline connection with the idyllic yet remote Isles of Scilly and opened up the prospect of drone operations between airports across the UK. Yesterday s successful return flight from Land’s End Airport in West Cornwall to St Mary’s Airport on the Isles of Scilly was the first ever freight drone flight between two UK commercial airports. Specially sanctioned by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), it is breaking new ground in helping to establish rules for drones to operate along an existing and well used commercial air corridor, across two Air Traffic Control areas.
