The officers were taken to an area hospital and were in stable condition, according to a police press release just before midnight.
A massive police presence shut North Market Street down between Concord Avenue and 26th Street late Wednesday night, and police asked those located in the area between 23rd Street and 27th Street, from West Street to Carter Street, to shelter in place and await further instructions from police.
Officers from the city s police department were on the scene, as were units from state and county police. Some officers on the scene were in tactical gear and carrying long rifles. Some were taking cover behind vehicles.
