Dominick Simeri is starting to feel like himself again.
The owner of Madison Oyster Bar has kept his downtown bar and restaurant closed for more than 500 days since the beginning of the pandemic. But come Thursday, that changes. I haven t been myself in quite some time, Simeri said. Just reaching down and grabbing a plate or a bottle of vodka where it s supposed to be makes me feel like myself again.
The bar and restaurant at 129 N. Main Street will officially reopen Thursday after the long hiatus, but many wonder, what took so long? I didn t trust it to be over, Simeri said. And the Madison Oyster Bar experience is not put your mask back on and limit the amount of people in the bathroom. I didn t want people to come back to the Oyster Bar and have it not be the Oyster Bar.
