The 30-year-old rugby player has gone on trial today, Thursday, accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm on his ex-partner Toni Mackey. Liverpool Crown Court heard that a domestic incident erupted between the pair at their home on Cronton Lane Mews in Widnes before the Wire’s Super League game with St Helens on February 6 last year. Prosecution barrister Kevin Slack told the jury that the couple, who had been in a relationship for around three years, ‘had not been getting on well’ on the morning of the alleged assault.
A LOVESICK man set fire to his ex-girlfriend’s back garden in ‘drunken stupidity’ after failing to cope following their separation. Louis Smith caused more than £1,000 worth of damage after deliberately setting fire to garden furniture and children’s toys, also damaging the garden fence. The 34-year-old appeared to be sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court, which heard how this was the ‘last straw’ in a campaign of harassment that also consisted of threats. The defendant threatened to ‘slit the throat’ of his former partner, leaving her feeling afraid in her own home. Mike Stephenson, prosecuting, explained how Smith’s two-year relationship with his victim came to an end in October 2020, but the pair stayed in contact until the end of December.

A gang thug fled onto the roof of a hotel with £7,000 in cash when police raided a makeshift drug den.
Kane Omar - notorious for terrorising L8 - booked a two bedroom apartment at The Podworks Hotel in Henry Street.
And when officers struck at the hotel, they uncovered a cocaine and cannabis outfit, operating from the city centre pad.
