FOLLANSBEE Twila Mezan and her daughter, Kara Morgan, have a lot in common.
And that includes having ketchup in their blood and rewarding careers under “the Golden Arches.”
A Weirton resident, Mezan is the owner/operator of four McDonald’s – one in Follansbee, the others at Pittsburgh International Airport, on West Liberty Avenue in Pittsburgh and in Imperial, Pa.
Morgan, a Colliers resident, serves as the organization’s director of operations and is on track to becoming a McDonald’s franchisee herself someday soon.
The city hosted parades in 2018 and 2019, while Holic was mayor. The current plan for the parade would mirror the 2019 format, with the students assembling at Venice High School, and the parade progressing west on Miami Avenue until Harbor Drive on Venice, then north to Venice Avenue. It would proceed east on Venice Avenue until Nassau Street. There it would turn north and proceed for a half block and enter Centennial Park.
“We have got a great school with great kids, they need the recognition,” Holic said.
At the park, there would be a gathering, with “free” hot dogs sold in exchange for a donation that would go toward the purchase of championship rings.

The data simply speaks for itself.
Compare the winning percentages of all Garfield County high school sports programs for the 2020-2021 school year so far, you’ll find that Coal Ridge holds sway over everyone.
The Titans athletic program in regards to volleyball, soccer, football and boys and girls basketball currently boasts an overall 46-17 record. That’s 73%.
Now compare Coal Ridge’s 73% win-to-loss ratio with the rest of the 3A Western Slope League. Though Delta (38-20, 66%) comes in second, the Titans athletic department still can put the feather in their caps as having the highest win percentage.

Houlihan Lawrence, a real estate company based in Connecticut and New York, has announced that five new agents have joined the company’s New Canaan office: Ayesha Qureshi-Amin, George Johnson, Kara Morgan, Barbara Pincione and Polly Sykes.
Ayesha Qureshi-Amin brings a national and international perspective to her work having been raised in Boston, Beijing and Istanbul as her father was a diplomat with the United Nations. Prior to moving back to the United States in 2012, she lived in London, where she studied at the London School of Economics & Political Science and began a long career in banking with 20 years of experience in the finance industry. Prior to joining Houlihan Lawrence, she was an Executive Director for JPMorgan Chase.
The core of the story is that of the widowed Dido feeling a revival of desire upon meeting the visiting warrior Aeneas. She loves, only to lose again when Aeneas is persuaded to sail away by a deceitful sorceress and her followers.
The women are the focal point and have numerous opportunities to shine. As Dido’s maiden Belinda, soprano Lindsay Ohse is a steady thread from beginning to end. She confidently leads the chorus urging Dido to open up to Aeneas and is there at Dido’s death.
Yes, spoiler alert, she dies in the end, but that shouldn’t be a big surprise. The lament of Dido’s final aria, “When I am laid in earth,” has enjoyed popular fame for more than 300 years as a peaceful resignation.
