Cayuga County Democratic leader calls for Cuomo to resign
Updated Mar 03, 2021;
Syracuse, N.Y. The head of the Cayuga County Democratic Committee is calling for Gov. Andrew Cuomo to step down amid accusations of sexual harassment and unwanted behavior toward women.
“We can’t have an executive who is focused on political retribution,” said Ian Phillips, who’s been chair of the Cayuga County Democrats for seven years. “It’s hard to see how he continues.”
Phillips is joining a small but growing group of Democrats calling for Cuomo, a Democrat serving his third term, to step down. State Sen. James Skoufis, D-Woodbury, made a similar call earlier today. Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara, D-Rotterdam, also is among Democrats saying Cuomo’s time in office should end.
