Season Comes to an End in Regional Final

May 24, 2021 AUSTIN, Texas – Oregon saw its 2021 season come to an end at the NCAA Austin Regional after a whirlwind day that saw the Ducks walk-off to force a deciding game before falling in game two. The Ducks first endured a five-hour rain delay prior to the start of game one, then proceeded to walk-off in extra innings for a 3-2 win after giving up a lead in the seventh inning. Oregon ultimately fell in the winner-take-all second game, 1-0, in a contest that went into the early morning in Austin. I m so proud of this team, said head coach Melyssa Lombardi. Just to watch them transform from the beginning of the year to now, I can t say enough. My heart hurts because they were right there, and I want them to get what they want, but we just fell short.

Texas softball rallies in seventh inning to buck Cowgirls 5-2

“We knew it was going to be a tough (game) coming in to play,” head coach Mike White said. “We got down early and made a couple of mistakes.” The Texas offense opened the game lacking its typical zeal. The Longhorns were unable to capitalize on a first-inning scoring opportunity when two runners got caught in a rundown after a failed double-steal. After the game, White admitted the team made a handful of base-running mistakes. The Longhorn defense also entered the game without their usual tenacity. Sophomore pitcher Shea O’Leary attempted to lead the team from the pitching circle but found the Cowgirl offense to be a competitive match at the plate.
