The mixologist, who relocated from Bengaluru to Kochi during the COVID-19 disruption last year, has set up Rendezvous, an alfresco counter, by the sea in Vasco Da Gama Square in Fort Kochi. Rendezvous is a pop-up a table and two stools under a garden umbrella in the charming cobblestone square under century-old rain trees. Fancy mojitos and fizzy fruit drinks make the menu; ‘Conversations & Queries’ scribbled on a black board adds to the wonder. The unusual stall has been drawing curious crowds since its opening in November 2020.

Sohan, who was also the former mayor of Kochi, said the Carnival which used to hold at the Vasco da Gama Square in Fort Kochi every year has been cancelled. This will be the first time in history since 1984 that the carnival, which normally sees the participation of more than five lakh people, is cancelled, he said.

It is an initiative of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and Smart Cities Mission to encourage people to create a flagship walking initiative in cities, focusing on placemaking, liveability, and pedestrian-friendly neighbourhoods. The designs should have fair distribution of spaces, safety, and security for all users, comfort, sensitivity to local surroundings, liveability and environmental stability, pedestrian-friendly streets, activity area, shopping area, interaction spaces, and kids play area.
