Dr. Kiran Bedi has been removed as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry while Governor of Telangana, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, has been given the additional charge as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. The development has come on the day when the Congress-led government in the Union Territory slipped into a minority after one more legislator resigned reducing its tally in the assembly.
Kiran Bedi will cease to hold the office of the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson said Tuesday night.
The President has directed that Dr. Kiran Bedi shall cease to hold the office of the Lieutenant-Governor of Puducherry and has appointed Dr.

‘One School One Pond’ initiative to support institutions in adopting a waterbody in their locality
A school-driven campaign to protect and nourish an estimated 600 waterbodies in Puducherry was launched under the auspices of a collective at the SRS Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School on Tuesday.

Sources said J. Hariharan, 24, of Therku Theru, ran a barbershop. He had been in love with a college student of Kamaraj Nagar for about two years. Even after she stopped talking to him after being pulled up by her parents, he pursued her.
To warn him off, the girl’s father S. Velan and his relatives summoned Hariharan and his father Jayaraman to a place near a temple. Velan’s relatives allegedly attacked Hariharan. One of them attacked him with a knife, injuring him on the ribs and the spinal cord. He was rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital, where he died.
