Young dad identified as Peak Downs Highway crash victim

Premium Content Subscriber only The moment a young father’s dual cab ute and an oncoming truck collided on the Peak Downs Highway in a horror smash on Friday was caught on dashcam. That footage will be central to the ongoing investigation into the crash which claimed the life of 35-year-old Dysart man and father of three Christopher Zarvalis. The horrific crash in the early hours of Friday, February 26 closed the Peak Downs Highway for several hours as investigators worked to piece together what lead up to the incident. Mr Zarvalis is believed to have left Mackay late Thursday night and was on his way back to Dysart when the crash occurred about 12.30am.

I was an extra on Wellington Paranormal. It was cold and funny.

It’s not raining. It’s Wellington in July, and it’s not raining. Everyone is thrilled about this. There’s been a lot of rain, recently, and if it had rained tonight. well, if it had rained tonight Wellington Paranormal would probably be shooting anyway. It’s a Wellington production, after all. Three seasons in, the crew is used to dealing with the rain. But it s easier not to have to shoot in the rain, producer Paul Yates tells me, which is why in this season of TVNZ’s mockumentary series more scenes are set indoors than previously. That way it’s easier to stick to a schedule, and a budget.

Wellington Paranormal: TVNZ's most entertaining law enforcement series is back

REVIEW: “Policing. It’s not always better work stories.” Officer O’Leary (Karen O’Leary) makes this shock admission as the beloved team of New Zealand’s Wellington Paranormal unit return our screens for a third season of investigations and hijinks on Wednesday evening (8.30pm, TVNZ2 and then at TVNZ OnDemand). Her exasperation comes as she, Office Minogue (Mike Minogue) and Sergeant Maaka (Maaka Pohatu) face one of their toughest cases yet. Called to a suspected breaking and entering in Lower Hutt just before midnight, the two officers firstly attempted to calm the frightened homeowners down (“Don’t believe everything you hear, I read that you could put your phone in the microwave to recharge,” Minogue informs them, while producing evidence in the form of his twisted, mangled iPhone4), the pair then enter the dwelling to discover the fridge in a state, with food strewn across the kitchen.
