County supervisors want to require new developments to use electricity over gas

2 Time to read: about 1 minutes The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors officially asked staff Tuesday to craft an ordinance amending the county building code to require electricity to be the sole source of power for all new residential and non-residential (hotel, office and retail) buildings, while prohibiting the installation of natural gas piping. The board voted 4-1, with Supervisor Candace Andersen dissenting. Andersen said she wanted to see more details on sustainability and infrastructure and believes homeowners should have more options. It s important they have an opportunity to weigh in, Andersen said, referring to municipal advisory councils and others in unincorporated areas.

Brentwood School District reports 15 COVID-19 cases among staff and students By Tony Hicks article BRENTWOOD, Calif - Just days after welcoming students back to classrooms, the Brentwood Union School District reported 15 cases of COVID-19 among students and staff at the district s 11 schools, on Monday morning.    This does not mean that students and staff contracted COVID at school, district superintendent Dana Eaton said. We do not currently have any cases where contact tracing has shown that anyone has contracted COVID at school from a positive individual.    Eaton said the Contra Costa Health Department told the district it should expect positive cases.
