Police on Tuesday arrested a 51-year-old South Salem, N.Y. man accused of striking a cyclist with his vehicle on Route 123 in April and fleeing the scene.
At about 12:51 p.m. on April 28 (a Wednesday), a motor vehicle traveling north on Smith Ridge Road near the Country Club of New Canaan struck a cyclist and left the scene, according to a police report.
The cyclist, a 56-year-old Ridgefield man, suffered abrasions among other injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Norwalk Hospital emergency room for treatment and evaluation, the report said.
Based on witness statements, police learned that the suspect vehicle was a grey, older model sedan or SUV with New York license plates possibly starting with GHE, it said.
